NEW LIFE OF NEW YORK CITY

A SAFE PLACE FOR KIDS

New Life’s Rites of Passage is intentional about moving youth participants of the program toward well defined goals of maturity and leadership. Progress toward reaching goals are measured by specific benchmarks. It is the task of the New life staff to facilitate youth development toward these benchmarks. Rites of Passage is structured to move youth from one of five developmental groups to the next.

Outreach Youth are those youth who the staff is making an effort to engage in New Life programs.

Roster Youth are those who attend programs on a weekly basis, are committed to aspects of New Life’s programs and are familiar with routines and expectations

Discipleship Youth are those who have made faith commitments and are growing spiritually by attending bible studies, discipleship camp, attend church and have a prayer partner, etc. They are taken under the wings of a staff person or volunteer leader for closer mentoring.

Leadership Youth are those who have been successfully nurtured and display emotional, social and spiritual maturity to take on some leadership roles within New Life. They are given assignments of working more closely with staff and volunteers to implement programs and activities.

Interns are those who have met all of the challenges of the Rites of Passage curriculum, have entered college and work alongside staff on a consistent basis.
